UNIQLO Melbourne, Australia ~ Grand Opening

9.50am, Wednesday 16th April 2014 ~ Japanese fashion clothing company, UNIQLO has finally arrived in Australia. Not just anywhere in Australia, but Melbourne. The company prides its clothing on being comfortable, clever and of high quality.

We lined up outside on Lonsdale street at the Myer Emporium main entrance. There were camera and TV crews, security guards, staff and japanese drums to begin the proceedings. After the cutting of the ribbon, we were ushered inside to what seemed like a million choruses of ‘Welcome to UNIQLO!” from their abundant staff. The smiles were blinding.

UNIQLO are a company that prides itself on customer service and high quality stock. I was a little overwhelmed at the number of staff on hand for whatever question you might have regarding their clothing.

I’ve owned many UNIQLO items before and have enjoyed the clever design and excellent quality. The foldable down-jackets are fantastic and extremely convenient to take when travelling. The Heat-Tech line of clothing is super light-weight and warm for cool weather. Their thermals have been effective in below zero temperatures, as I have personally experienced.

So because I’d already had the pleasure of encountering the brand, I was keen to see what the Melbourne store would hold for the otherwise oblivious Australians. Also, my brother happens to be one of the 450 smiley, helpful staff who work there.

It was a great experience and many clothing items were on sale. My family made a fair few purchases and are quite happy with the way the staff helped. The alterations department gave speedy, detailed altering of pants and was completely free of charge. Something many of those clothing alteration shops would be upset to know about.

All in all, if you have yet to experience the ‘unique’-ness of UNIQLO, head down to Myer Emporium. No lines at the door (surprisingly), unlike H&M who still has lines and opened over a week earlier.

Check it out!
